Support Us

Volunteer

There are volunteer roles available for people to work with the archive on-site in Maidenhead or otherwise to work remotely. You can be a regular volunteer or lead (or help-out) on specific projects. You are very welcome to propose your own projects.

Typical roles include:

Story-tellers Researchers who work with us and the ATA archive to develop online
exhibitions, videos, lectures, publications etc.
Photograph researchers The photographer is usually known, but the subject people in the
photographs are often not catalogued, or even not known.

Archive investigators The majority of ATA material remains in private hands or in fragmented collections. It would be helpful to have pointers to where other material is held, and we might help organisations to upgrade their inventories.

Additional online tools are in the pipeline to support volunteers with photograph annotation and logbook transcription and will be announced when available. In the meantime, expressions of interest from potential volunteers are welcome. Please contact us at ata@maidenheadheritage.org.uk.

Gifts and loans of objects

If you are the owner or custodian of any ATA material, we’d be very grateful for the opportunity to gain access to it for the archive.  As an accredited museum, we are well set up to handle and look-after donated objects. Loans are also welcome for the purpose of making high-quality digital copies.  Please contact the curator via ata@maidenheadheritage.org.uk.

Users of the archive are encouraged to become Friends of Maidenhead Heritage Centre. As a Friend, you receive many benefits, including:
